Panna National Park,Madhya Pradesh-tiger haven

Panna National Park (P.N.P) is located in the Vidhya range on the outskirts of Diamond rich town of Panna in forest rich Madhya Pradesh state of India. PNP was established as a national Park in 1981 & taken under the ambit of project tiger in 1994. Technically it is the youngest tiger reserve of country. Panna has over 542.67 Sq kms of area & was created from hunting reserves of princely states of Panna, Bijawar & chhatapur. This vast expanse of virgin land is inhabited by animals like wild dogs, tiger, sloth bear, hyena, leopard cats, gharial. Over 300 species of birds including rare birds made this land as their home.
We arrived in late afternoon at the entrance of park & checked in Ken river lodge, a splendid place to stay..After a brief rest we decided to enter the part on a night ‘Safari’ available in panna. It is a bit expensive so its better if you move in a group. We entered the park from madla village. Suddenly there was an unusual movement near bushes & our driver switched off jeep’s lights & in the moonlit night, we can see the outline of a creature near us. Our driver suddenly switched on the light, there was a spotted magnificent creature staring at us. It was leopard the king of stealth. It disappeared in buses I felt excitement in my body at the sight of mighty beast. Our journey in the night safari afterwards bore no result. Next morning, we preferred elephant safari so that deep forest can be explored. We visited beautiful Pandav falls located 7 KMs from madla gate we saw birds of prey, cheetal, wild boar & a pack of wild dogs. The day was full of wildlife & scores of species of birds. On our last day, we traveled in Ken river on a boat ride offered by forest department. It is best to view barbing crocodiles. This was a successful trip to beautiful forest land in central India.
Best time to visit this park is November-March

  1. The Himalayas, home of the snow, is the most impressive system of mountains on the earth, and for centuries the setting for epic feats of exploration.
